they are almost 4 months now. I spend most of my free time observing them and I really am no closer to deciding which one I would choose if that time comes, I say if, because I'm hoping its not when. They are amazing animals. I really enjoy them.

Rooster one has definitely matured faster then rooster 2. They both have really good qualities. Rooster one is already going after the girls. He had a clear shot today and took full advantage of it. They usually run for cover. Rooster 2 has not shown interest as of yet. Yesterday rooster 2 actually came to one of the girls rescue when rooster 1 tried grabbing her. He simply stepped between them and that was that. I was impressed that he protected the girl and did so in a non violent manner. I have not seen rooster two full out challenge rooster one, but I have seen him what looks like giving him a dirty look. So I question the pecking order here, because I was leaning towards rooster one bring the leader. They almost seem to compliment each other and keep each other out of trouble. Is that possible?

In order to help the girls, I want to get them saddles. What is the thought on removing Spurs and trimming nails on the roosters?

Rooster one is fast and really can get in any spot up high--rooster 2, not so much, which means the girls have a better chance of getting away from him because they are pretty agile too.

I've thought about removing them and putting them together in a seperate area, but room and money are not there. I put quite a bit of money into this enclosure and I'm recovering slowly. I would have to be super creative with space. It would be more work then the original enclosure and I put in a lot of hours on that one. I never want to deal with hardware cloth again. It kicked my butt.

Both roosters have collars on which I check every night and they are both good about it. Without those collars they have a lot to say loudly between each other and the rooster across the street. Then there is their conversations with me. They literally answer me when I talk to them and they definitely let me know when they want something.

This is what I see when I look out the window. They stare at the house waiting for me to come out there. If I don't move fast enough, they yell at me.

If I remove one of the roosters and then put him back in, won't that cause an issue? They were seperated for 15 minutes and it took 3 days to get back to normal.

Unless you're determined to keep them both,
I would take #1 out of sight for a few days to a week and observe #2 as sole male in residence, then swap them out and observe #1. Invite the less well-behaved to dinner.
