Hello! Back on here for a update. Yesterday we had a duckling pass away and we’ve made a few changes. I noticed that a lot of people were asking for pictures of the brooder; I can’t show you pictures due to the wishes of my mother. The ducklings are in a large bin that has a wire mesh top and sides for air flow. They have a special water container and duck pellets that’s meant for all ages of ducks with the Niacin they need. A heat lamp, that has brought been brought back down to 75-80 degrees, it’s in the corner so they have to move away if needed but it’s also on a timer so if it’s above 80 it turns off. This has worked for the other ducks we have raised as well so I’m not sure if this was the problem with the passed duckling. We are working on making a bigger and better brooder for not only ducks but our chicks and turkeys too.

All the other ducky’s are doing great and all healthy from what we can see. They are very loud very spoiled ducks, we love them very much.
Thank you to everyone who tried so hard to us with our last post yesterday and even though the duckling ended up passing away everyone was such a amazing help and now we know what we need to approve in the future.

Hi Backyard chaos

We were all very sad for you and your duckling that died yesterday. It seems to me that you are doing OK for your ducklings and will have success. We can never know why a duckling dies without an autopsy, but the gasping was unusual which is why none of us really had a good answer for helping you. I am sure you were devastated that the little one died without a "lesson" to be learnt to prevent future deaths. Sorry we couldn't help with that.

Good luck with you ducks chickens and turkeys!
