Update on Not Disappointed

I am rooting for you and those chicks! I am on day 1.5 of my set and I am having a hard time waiting already. Wondering whether or not anything is developing inside those eggs.

Looking forward to hearing the stats with your hatch!

I have two fully hatched... a silkie and a bantam ameracauna. I have another bantam ameracauna zipping. A few others with occasional rocks. There was one other that had pipped, but I can't find it now that the other two are knocking all of the eggs about. Can't wait to see what I wake up to!

The link stopped working for me, too. I'll post some pictures soon.

Boy do they look pathetic trying to figure walking out. Haha.

Ok, so two completely hatched and doing well. One has been mostly zipped since about 2am. The other two whizzed out at this point. This one doesn't have much left and seems to be having a hard time. Humidity started to drop so I opened bator to grab two fluffy chicks and put more water in. The third one looks dry and crusty. Could her membrane be drying out? She is chirping pretty vigorously at times.

I can see her membrane and it looks really dry! Should I help??

This was one of the first ones to pip, yesterday around 11am.

Chirping vigorously which makes me think she is strong, but not getting through the last bit which makes me think 1) shrink wrapped, which will only get worse or 2) anomaly which can declare itself now or later if I help. I'm going to help. Might be the wrong thing to do but if it is, I will learn.

Oh she is soooooooopo close on her own.... I will wait just a but longer.....

I'm going to go walk the dog, shower, eat breakfast, give the dog a bath, and do the dishes. Then I will reassess. Then she will declare herself...

Right or wrong in terms of "survival of the fittest" -- I always help, and most of the time I'm glad I did. A few times it turns out that it doesn't make a difference. At least they have a better chance. So, I say, go for it!

I helped. Poor thing.... Membrane stuck to it's face and legs. It is out of it's shell and moving vigorously. I couldn't get all of the shell/membrane off and she was getting cold, so I put her back in. Watching to see if she wiggle it off as she dries. Otherwise she looks good. No blood vessels or external yolk. I'm bumping my humidity up a bit, too. Had been holding it at 65%. now going to try 70%.

I just had an awesome hatch, White Ameraucana and D'Uccle's. Only one egg left to hatch. I just left them alone, They went into lock down, I only shined a light to check humidity, which I had at 57-62%. Everyone hatched uneventfully in the dark, in my closet. Very smooth. No egg hockey either.
