Well I ran to the vets and purchased a coccidiostate. Even though the hatchery promised that the chicks had been vacinated I could see no other reason for the bloody poos. I began treating them last night. This morning they had once again tipped their water over
These are the most active chickens I have ever seen! I have no idea what they are as they are a rainbow layer bunch, and some of the gopher stripey looking ones are so fast I have a hard time catching them.
e Even pooping blood they are crazy fast. Anyway I cleaned up the mess, changed out the litter, resecured (and extra secured with wire around and through the wall) their water, then I watched. I only saw one with bloody poo in about 40 minutes. She had normal poo with a bit of bloody urine. It was in no way near the large amounts of blood with clots I saw before. I'm still very concerned, but one dose and they seem to be improving? Now my concern is that if the hatchery did vaccinate them and I'm giving them a coccidiostat how long should I continue with it? I would usually call my mother, but she is having troubles with very dry mouth due to a medication she's on. My father thought I should just put apple cider in their water or a clove of garlic which I usually do, but with older chickens. I've never used a coccidiostat as the hatchery has always vaccinated them for me, so got any ideas?
