Yeah, it was a very long wait for that first egg. I put lights on a timer and have been gradually increasing there "daylight" hours by about 30 minutes a week.... this is the first time I have ever tried that....I can attest, it works!
How are yours doing? Did you get yours from Big Medicine also?

Yes, I got birds not eggs-they were 4 months old when I got them. Now 7 1/2 months old and my big gentle rooster "Ben" is starting to really do his job- collecting the eggs being laid for incubating little by little-everytime I load bator I put all the SLB eggs Ive collected in:-)

Very Pretty Danny!

Yeah, it was killing me to just crack them open rather that incubate them, but with it still being so cold and I have limited brooder space, I want to wait a little longer before I fire up the bator and then I am going to do a big batch at once, I have done the staggered hatch before and I don't like to do that, I find one large batch all hatching at the same time is much easier.
Thanks for your compliment and good luck with your birds.
Brahmas are awesome creatures!

Yup, they truly are amazing and sweet birds! As far as the bator..I said the same thing and have been hatching since Xmas! LOL it was teh call of the brahamas-no chicks yet though-hoping the eggs I have so far ( collected not in bator) are the fertile ones as I have now seen my Ben be a man:-)

There a chick... :

Silly question...what color is their egg?

A varying shade of brown.
