I posted a thread over a month ago about one of our Orpingtons. We were not sure if she was a he. Our orpington is much bigger than our other Orpingtons and has a bigger comb than any of my hens and has huge feet. The comb looks pinkish to me and i know Roosters combs are red so i am a little confused. He or she is about 4 months now maybe a little older and still no signs of crowing and no signs of spurs what so ever. he or she however is getting a little more dominant these days. i still just don't know the gender. I hate the waiting game!

Here is a few pictures i took of the Orpington about 2 weeks ago. Can anyone help with this?? Thanks!!

That is a Rooster! He may be crowing and you don't recognize it - at first it sounds somewhat like someone jumping on a whoopee cushion.

Looks like a Roo to me too. Mine didn't start crowing until he was a little over 4 months old.

Looks just like my hens. Mine are Rhode Island Red, cross New Hampshire, so are a bit darker colour feathers. And mine are a bit fluffier about the bums, but then they are a bit older too. But the comb and wattle on mine are exactly like that. And they are very red too. I know they are hens because they lay my eggs, so no issue with confusing them for roos.

My boss hen has a much bigger comb than the others, and redder wattles, but then she has been laying for a week longer, so maybe that's the difference. Mine have only been laying for a couple of weeks, and the one who is not laying yet has a smaller pinker comb.

Oh, and mine have big feet too. But they look just right for the scratching they are doing - yours' feet don't look bigger than my girls'.

So you guys say its a rooster? I have a hen that is very dominit and has spurs and brightly red comb but she lays eggs! hehe funny she even makes lots of noise all the time! like when i go in there and feed them she is always running off my 10 week old babies so one day i felt sorry for them and put out another pile of food and she even took over that one! running back and forth to each one not letting babies eat so i shood her away from one of the piles and she started walking back and forth in front of me clucking loudly..i laughed at her but i didnt let her intimidate me. im still confused why she has spurs but i know that hapens sometimes in the wild with turkeys too...females get beards and stuff.

. He/She is acctually very quiet. Have not heard him make the woopie cushion sound yet. That would be a kick to hear.
