Ok, I'm new to the chicken world but grew up around a Grandmother who knew more about raising chickens than most anyone you imagine. She raised thousands over the span of her 93 years on this earth and her recent passing got me to thinking. Now ,I've always had an interest but little opportunity to enjoy raising my own chickens so I decided to jump in head first and enjoy the ride. After tons of reading and research I wanted to test several methods of hatching eggs so I invested in an R-Com 3 egg, Little Giant still air and fabricated my own Miss Prissy style homemade incubator. It's day 4 and I'll post my results so far:
R-Com: Set it and forget it (almost). It's as easy as plugging it in, filling it with water and pressing a button. everything regulates via a computer chip and it's worked great so far. 3 RIR eggs
LG Still Air: Terrific. Humidity and Temp are steady as a rock and the automatic turner is working great. 15 RIR and suprise breed mix from Florida Chick
Miss Prissy Homemade bater: Temp and Humidity are a bit of a truggle to maintain but it was a blast to make and I've enjoyed the learning process. 2 RIR
If I can figure out how to post pics on here i'll show you the setup. For now i'll leave it at this buti plan on candling this weekend and will post the results. Wish me luck
