I would probably find a way to increase the height of the fence (if you didn't want to make an enclosed run).

i would try to make the fence higher if possible. i dont understand why the neighbours have such a problem... i would love some chicken visitors in my garden

Well the drama continues with my nasty neighbor. Evidently she has realized that we are in complete compliance with our chickens and coop. So she has now decided to put up a wood fence. That sounds great right. I thought my problem was solved. But now I have a serious danger to my chickens. She is not removing the chainlink fence, which will leave a gap between her new wood fence and her old chainlink. If my chickens fly up they could fall into the gap and injury themselves or worse. My husband called the city and they said if the chain link fence is on her property that she does not have to remove it. My husband is waiting till she is home and is going to ask her remove the fence, but if she is up on the codes and I think she probably is, she won't care.

I guess we will have to build a fence now afterall!!!!!
