Update - Using Electric Premier Poultry Fencing

Hey All,

I posted a while ago I'd be getting an electric poultry netting system from Premier because of our raccoon and other ground animal problem. We have hawks but they don't go after the chickens as much (only had one attack for the past seven months - chicken survived - hawk dropped her :)).

I've had the fence up for more than a month now, no losses. So far, I have been extremely thrilled with the customer service Premier offers and the quality of the fencing. The fence literally took about 20 minutes to put up. Now my birds have a HUGE safe area they run around, and they seem much happier for it.

Many folks I've seen have mentioned their woes with ground animals posting in the forums, so I thought I'd share my success thus far with the change.

The total system was only around $200.00. I will be planting some bushes in their area; the coop is off to the right and not shown in the picture.

Congrats on the success of your fence (Netting). I have 650' of it. It's been up 4 yrs without one loss to a ground based predator. Consider it one of the best things I have bought for my chickens.

Nice! So far, I am very happy with the purchase and will definitely get more soon to add onto my fence. Here's my coop...still needs work for asthetics; I plan on putting siding on to make it look a bit better.

But for now, it is 8 x 8 x 8 feet and quite empty (my little chickens aren't in there yet...going to be a bit before they're big enough).

My husband put the shingles on the roof of the coop and it's been completely dry during our torrential rain (I'm soooo happy!!)
I still need to get out there and trim the excess off the shingles on the edges as you can see.

I've been using Premier electric netting since early June. I haven't had any losses due to predators. Last year I lost 3/4 of my flock to foxes. I'm very pleased.
