Day 10 officially started at 4:30.
The last time that I candled (day 7) I thought that I had 6 good ones and one that I questioned. Since this is my first time I left all 41 eggs in the bator. (Just a reminder that these are eggs I picked up at an auction and a farm and I had no idea on fertility.) Today we candled again. The bator was starting to get a slight odor and I was worried.
Well the 6 that I thought were good the last time are the only ones left.
I could not see movement, but I did still see veining and a large increase in the size of the "darkness." I did not see anything that I would call a blood ring.
I cracked all of the others open. (I know I am a glutton for punishment.) Luckily only one had a very slight odor. All the others had NOTHING. No growth or veining. There were alot of yolks that seemed broken in the shell, and the contents seemed thin, and runny.
So far so good I think. I have a total of $5.00 invested in the eggs, and I wasn't sure if I would get anything.
As for temps, turning, and humidity.
I have been keeping a notebook to help me know what is/has gone on.
The temp from the accurite inside temperature has been up and down, so I don't even look at that anymore.
In the water weasle the temps have ranged from 102.4 on day 2 to 98.7 on day 4 when my WW broke. Since that time it has been running anywhere from 99.3 to 100.2.
I have been turning about twice a day, sometimes 3 times a day. Last night (Thurs day 9) I forgot to turn them for the 2nd time. I had an algebra final and got home late. By the time I got the kids wrestled into bed I forgot all about the babies. I did remember to close the coop up.
Humidity has been sitting pretty good. Maybe a little high at 53%. It does fluctuate when I open the bator down to 37-49% depending on what I am doing.
Ok so what do all you very experienced hatchers think of the numbers? Should I work on anything? Should I be able to see the babies? I saw them pretty good on day 7. Movement and all. I am concerned that I did not "see" them.
Thanks for supporting my newly found addiction! Chickens-not hatching. If any hatch then maybe that will become my next addiction.

btw DH is NOT happy that any are growing... Maybe he will chaange his mind when/if he sees some fluffy butts!
