So just now I figured out my brown chickens aren't russian orloffs, but they're specked sussexes

I love SS, we currently have 2 in our mixed flock. They are some of the most people-friendly and so pretty. They're good foragers, decent layers and I enjoy listen to them chatter all day.

I hope you aren't too disappointed your birds aren't Russian Orloffs.

Speckled Sussex are a very nice breed. A former BYC greeter/friend had nothing but Sussex because he was so totally satisfied with them. He also knew a great deal about chickens.

Either way, I wouldn't care what breed they are. I'm just happy I found their breed, after not knowing what they are due to them being hatchery's choice. And yes, I agree they are very friendly. One I have is super shy, and the other breeds besides the speckles sussexes are friendly, too

I never owned Sussex, but I have heard they are a great breed. And Welcome to BYC!
