Update!

I’ve decided to hatch my quail and chickens together! My plan for the quail lockdown day is to move them to a different incubator at 100 F and 70% humidity while keeping my chicken eggs in my nurture right 360!
Removing the eggs should be easy enough.Wishing you the best!

I unfortunately only have 5 now?!
12 were unfertilized and I accidentally dropped one while candling so I’m a little bit stressed because even if they all hatch they’re gonna be pretty lonely 😓

Which eggs were you candling when you broke one the quail or chickens or both?I'm sorry that happened to you

I had 18 quail to start with, and 4 chickens. 12 quail were unfertilized and I dropped one of them. But I candled the chickens yesterday and there’s visible development in one! I’m going to candle the others when I get home from my brother football game.

Do you ever crack your eggs to test for fertility? After 3-7 days of incubation you should be able to tell if a chicken eggs developing.

Yeah! From when I knew I had a rooster I cracked every egg until I saw the blastoderm. We don’t eat our eggs, we feed them to the strays in our neighborhood so they don’t eat our chickens! So I had to buy some beef to keep them happy for this period. Afterwards I collected 8 or so eggs and put them in the incubator for 3 days just to be certain. Now we’re actually hatching chicks! When I have quitters I also crack them open as a little teaching moment for my siblings because I think it’s good for them to understand how life works.
