Updated barred rocks -9 wks

We love these chicks sooo much. Pretty sad to have to get rid of 2 Roos. These are all the same age. Pretty sure all the barred rocks you see are Roos. However, they look so different. Cluck Norris(biggest comb) never looked like the other 2 but he has different feathers. The other 2 have begun crowing every day. Cluck Norris crowed once I believe. How do you determine which crow to keep? Just how it acts or is there some characteristics to look for in a good Roo? Thoughts on why they look so different? Thanks!

Keep the one who is the most bonded and protective of the flock, while still being friendly

I usually wait to see if the hens like one more than the others. The best roosters talk to the hens, show them treats, hang out with them all day, and the hens don't run away or seem harassed by them. Also, if they go after people they're soup around here.

Thoughts on why they look so different?

The one in the second photo doesn't look like a barred rock. Likely a mix of barred rock and something else. And, actually the other two look pretty dark for barred rock cockerels. (The white bands are thinner than the black). I'm not certain, but I think that means they have a single barring gene instead of double, which would make them mixes as well. Where/who did you get them from?

Not a rose comb. It looks like it might be a pea.
