My duck has improved so much energy wise but is still unable to walk. A month ago now I came on here to ask advice for my duck and the consensus was that my duck was niacin deficient because of his weakness and inward turned feet. I went and bought two different kinds of vitamin supplemented food crumbles, vitamin nutridrench to add to the water and bought higher quality of food. I have used all alternately and have seen a great improvement in his energy and attitude since then, but he still cant walk. I have a pond and try to encourage it to swim to exercise its legs multiple times everyday but still not much improvement. I'm at my wits end. There aren't vets who accept ducks near me and Ive done all I know to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Will he ever walk again?

I am not very knowledgable about ducks, but no one else has answered so thought I’d at least try. Hopefully someone with more duck knowledge will weigh on as well. It is my understanding that if niacin deficiency is caught very quickly, then there is a good chance for recovery within a short amount of time. However, if it is caught late then the outcome might not be that favorable or will take longer to correct. How old is your duck and how long had he had the problem when you started the supplements? I tried to find more in depth info but was not very successful. I did find one article on it, and although it does not go very in depth, if you read pretty far down in the Comments and chatter after the article, some people discuss rehab and recovery more in depth. I would read through all the comments at the end...some may be helpful:

I also found this BYC thread where someone was asking for rehab for a duck that sounds similar to yours. You may try messaging the person that originally posted the thread and see if they had luck with anything:

Any thoughts @WhiteSilver?
