So she is still new to laying. shes had a couple good solid eggs (normal) but shes on again laying at night. soft shell eggs. she may even have another one tonight if she does what she did the other night (Shes even had a solid double yolker) which oddly didn't surprise me. I know the soft shell is probably due to a nutrition deficiency Is there anything I could build to put some oyster shell in by itself? so its free to them whenever they need that extra calcium? I've put just the slightly ratio in their food but this is still happening so right now I don't know what to do. :( Thanks in advance. :)

(I do not have any calcium pills) but I have a 50 lb bag of oyster shell)

Hi,

Here in Arkansas, Atwoods has a feeder that I use. It is one that has the same basic design as a hummingbird feeder. This way I can leave the oyster shell out all the time. So far it is working great.

Hi there. U have too put the oyster shells in a separate container in the coop. Hens know when they need it and they're going to eat it . I have one feeder with just layer feed for them and a small one with oyster shells. It works perfectly for everybody.

We also add spent crushed eggshells (so they don't like like eggs anymore.).
