We started wuth a prefab, its mini run, and a 86"x40"x40" run from amazon...all for three Easter egger chicks.
After about $900 invested in coop, run, and security, i decided that the run was too small. I couldnt clean it properly, after tarping, sun didnt reach the chicks, flat roof issues..etc etc. I asked for help but couldnt figure it out...
Then i sold my 86" run in favor of a 20x10x7 metal frame run...frame plus hardware, steel zip ties, new tarp, cinder blocks and wood to raise it off the ground etc...another $500 or so...now its coming together! The picture below shows it, although we still have work to do tomorrow on it ...
We live in suburban nj, fully fenced in yard, not many predators. We didnt use any chicken wire, just straight hardware cloth so we didnt need to do double ties and all.. For the roof we will also use hardware cloth covered in 1/2 dark tarp and 1/2 clear. Any other things i may need before finishing it off?
