The kiddie pool was a huge hit with the girls. They boys are scared of it..haha. I had the best time sitting in the yard watching them today. Chips and Dip(girls) stayed in it forever it seemed and flapped half the water out. Cheese and Quackers never got in just drank out of it.
All 4 of them are getting along great now. My batteries were dead this morning when they were all sleeping together but they looked so cute.

All 4 walking around to see what's going on.

Hey, how did you get your ducks to actually go IN the pool?

We just put ours outside today. They came from our bathtub, with only a milk jug waterer, to a small sunken backyard pond of their very own.

They are loving their new digs, but they treat this cute little pond like a water bowl! Tons of drinking. . . no swimming.

Should we just be patient, or is there something more we should be doing to encourage them to actually swim?

The girls didn't waste anytime before they got and I just got them Sat.
When Cheese and Quackers were younger we had a 40 gal tub sunken and they were terrified of it. We threw their favorite treats on the water. After awhile they went in. The tub didn't last long b/c it was too hard to dump out. The water was nasty and smelled like sewage after one day...yuck!!

Treats would work they go anywhere for those! I don't think I will need to coax mine they fight each other to get wherever there is water and waste no time jumping in. Even with their waterer they stand sideways and try and get their feet in there. I have let them swim in big tupperware bowls and in our garden tub but I am thinking of getting a kiddie pool next for them until they are fully feathered and can go in the pond. Of course they will only have access to the pool when we are with them.

What pretty ducks! You can see in the second picture(the boys), it looks like the boys are daring each other to get in.

"You get in."
"Nooo, you get in."
"Are you chicken?"
"I'm not chicken, are you chicken?"
"Go touch it."
"No, you go touch it."

LOL. I thought it was funny that they were the ones not to go swimming too. LOL
