In my lunchbreak I went to TSC and now there are 11 pieps in my basement. It is so cute watchng them. 3 are Golden Comets, 3 are something with L but not Lakefelder, I never heart that name before and 5 assorted bantams and they are looking like Silkis to me. Tomorrow morning I will take some pics from them.
Off to watch my birdies...................

And I have a question.........do I need to let the light on in the basement, or is the warimg light enough? In the past I raised pieps, but the hen took care of them lol. This is a brand new expierence for me, because in Germany you buy 20 week old hens for around 7.50 Euro..........

I'd attempt to give them a proper daylight/night lighting experience thought the warming light will sort of mess it up. I'd still have the light on in the day and off at night though.

Looks like you got a white, a buff, and a black silkie. Need better pics to tell what the others are though.

You can find laying pullets here in the US, too, usually around $10-15 each. Craigslist always has them advertised. Was the L chicken a Langshan?

Oh, looking at your bantams, it looks like you got either a golden necked d'Uccle or a salmon faverolle like I did last month! They looked the same at first, but their wing feathers came in differently. Does your muffed feather footed white baby with yellow legs have 4 or 5 toes? Faverolles have 5 toes, like silkies, but they have yellow legs, silkies have black.

Thanks for your advice ( hope that's the right word, I 'm still learning

). I thought so with the light, but wasn't sure. Hope 4 from my 5 bantam are silies and the other I hope is a Welsumer, we will see in a couple weeks lol. The white one are the mistery for me

I think you got 3 silkies. Silkies have black beaks, feet and skin. I see a white, a buff, and a black silkie in your fuzzy pile of chicks.

Third picture down, the white one snuggled up to your black silkie (and what looks like maybe a partridge cochin or silkie, depending on what color skin, legs, etc, it has), her face looks just like my bantam salmon faverolle. She's everyone's favorite chick, she's so sweet and cuddly! How many toes does this chick have, and what type of comb? I can probably tell what kind she (or he!) is with this information.

btw, what part of Germany are you from? My best friend's mom is from Germany.

I'm originally from the area where the VW got build - Wolfsburg/ Braunschweig.
At last I lived in Bavaria near Regensburg.

3 of my pieps should be Golden Comets, so I got told @ TSC ..........but I forgott the name of the breed from 3 white ones. All I know, that it starts with a L..........

( think I got Alzheimers:/ ) And I need to look closer @ the 5 Bantams...............I think 4 of them got dark skin, but not sure. By the way...........my husband think it's wild to pick 11 chicks lol. I told him # 12 would be a rooster. I will get him after we moved
