I just bought a brinsea octagon 20 eco so I could get rid of the hova bator. I set it up to the correct temp and filled up one tray with water. The humidity was 0%!!! I filled both trays and it was only 20%!! All my vents were closed. I think my hygrometer is way off but it seems to be correct in my hova bator. Now the temp says 97 degrees!!!! Im starting to get sick of this little bator. I hate to say this but I would rather my old styro foam hova bator right now

Check your hygrometer. Adding more water can make the temperature drop, especially if you added cold water. I know when my water wells get empty, the temp rises a bit in my incubators, I'm sure too much water can have the opposite effect.

The thermometer was in there for eight hours with both trays full. It just changed even though I didn't do anything!!!!!!!

I got it from the brinsea store with the rotater. I put 5 more thermometers in and got the temp straight. I'm just worried about humidity. What do y'all advise to do for the first 18 days?? I have a seperate hatcher that I had success with while hatching so I know the humidity in that one.I will just put eggs in the Eco the first 18 days and then I will put them in the hatcher for the last three days. I'm was just regretting buyingthis bator for just a second. It's just my hygrometer, not my incubator.

If you are certain you have everything set up right, I would send it back. Everything that I have read on the Brinsea they are dead on and easy. No need to drive yourself crazy over a dud. It happens.
