About two months ago my female runners companion was taken by a hawk and we got her a new mate, a male runner. At first they had a rocky start. Now they are buddies… the new issue is the female will quack as loud as possible until I come outside as if she wants to watch her. When I am not outside and watching her she runs around the yard with her neck low to the ground yelling. Once I come outside she’s happy… how can I help her be more comfortable outside without me ?

I feel bad because I want her to feel safe in the yard but she screams for hours until I come out side.

Before I'd allow a duck to control my life, I'd go through my closet, grab some of my old clothes, make one of these and sit it in the yard. Problem solved!!

That's a good idea @Kanekoded if nothing else it would probably scare her into submission lol

Try placing a mirror out with her make it safe so she doesn't get hurt but maybe if she has another duck beside her beau she'll be happy. They like a "flock"

Is getting more females an option? Sounds like she needs more companionship.
And really, try not to come when she's quacking for you. That only encourages the behavior.
