Urban chicken chalet

Lol! We are contemplating 2 more right now. I said they same thing when we started though, "Lets just get 3 and see how it goes". Three turned into 4, then 6.

Me and my cousin started off with 4 each, now we have about 200 between us. Chickens are definitely addictive

Wow.

We did go find the last one in the metro area at a Sam's Club. My husband went and looked at it and purchased, but we have decided we better just build one. It is made of thin 1x2s, and lots of light gaps in it, and as someone mentioned, a tiny run. We live in MN and it gets very cold here for about 6 months of the year (Why we live in a place like this is beyond me, but I digress), so having a coop with lots of leaks in it is not desirable!

Good idea not to go with the pre-fab coops. They don't last at all especially in the snowy regions. We live in Michigan right off Lake Michigan.

For what you pay for a pre-fab coop (made of cheap wood), for a little more you can make your very own, design it and make it larger. Click on my avatar to see what I made last year for about $250.... and none of it was recycled or free materials either.

Do you mind sharing a picture of your retrofitted Chicken Chalet... I recently purchased one and would love to see your take on it... Thanks :)

I just bought an Urban chicken Chalet in box from some people... but the box is chewed and there are no assembly instructions. I'm new to this... help!
