Hello! New to the group (obviously)
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We are brand new to chickens and are getting our first flock this week
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Starting with 6 and maybe moving up to 8 in the future (max allowed in our city)
(3) What breeds do you have? We are getting an assortment - Easter Eggers, Ameribella, Opal Legbar, Silked Easter Egger...
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? We are looking forward to having fresh quality eggs as well as the experience of raising hens as feathered family members
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Prior to launching my hen hobby I was very into houseplants
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have a blended family with 5 children between the 2 of us. I work with cancer patients and enjoy doing anything that makes me feel more connected to nature and the universe. We live in Seattle and can't wait to start our new adventure with our backyard chickens.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC when I was googling about raising chickens in the city and have already gotten so much useful information here, which is why I decided to join
