Hello everyone! I am new here, and currently I don't have any chickens, although I am on my City's waiting list for a chicken license which will allow us to have 4 chickens. In the meantime, I am getting some quail, so I will be here mostly for the quail discussions for now.
In the past, I have had chickens, so I do have some experience. I have had Buff Orpingtons, Chantecler, Americauna and three surprise birds that appeared to be black cochins (They weren't what I had been told would hatch from the eggs I purchased). I have also had Muscovy ducks, which I miss terribly, but living in the city now, I will likely never have again.
As for the quail, I am wanting to focus first on Jumbo, as I want them for meat and eggs, and second on color. I am planning to have some Pharaoh, but I would like to cross the Pharaoh with other colors to obtain Jumbos in other colors as well. I look forward to gleaning wisdom and knowledge from the experienced people here.
