An Australorp rooster in Western PA needs to be rehomed by tomorrow, or he will be killed.

I know lots of people eat their chickens and that's their way of doing things. We need to eat, I get that. Personally, I do not want to eat my chickens. That's for each person to decide.

This rooster is my relatives rooster. Both us and them got a whole bunch of chickens for the first time last year, not really knowing anything about them. Needless to say, we all ended up with about half roosters and half hens.

I know people shouldn't buy chickens without being fully aware of the responsibility of having roosters. This has definitely been a learning curve for all of us. We all have started rooster flocks and have been working with them for hours a day.

This rooster can't stay because he and another rooster in the flock almost fought to the death the other day, and if they put him back in the flock, there is a good chance all of those roosters will die. No one wants that to happen. So he is currently separated by himself. He looks pretty beat up right now because of the fight, as lots of chickens owners know how this happens so easily.

He isn't really people aggressive. I am being very cautious when I say this, because obviously he is a rooster. Roosters are feisty, their whole purpose of living is to be protective. Every now and then he will slide his wing a little, as almost all roosters will do.

He is little less than a year old, probably about 8-10 months.

He might do great in a flock with hens, and protect them! He's been in a rooster flock so hasn't had this chance, yet.

But my relatives can't keep him any longer, because he can't live by himself. If he isn't rehomed, tomorrow their neighbor will come and teach them to slaughter him. We are holding him, petting him, and feeding him out of our hands. He really, really, really is NOT being aggressive. He might be the perfect addition to your flock.

He is NOT being given away for food. If someone takes him, it should be to be given another chance to have a flock of hens, or live out his life happily.

Located in Western Pennsylvania, Grove City area. Depending on where you are, if it's in reasonable distance, a meet-up, pick-up or drop-off might be able to be arranged.

Interested? Let me know!!! This guy could really use a home. Or do you know of a farm or sanctuary in the area that might take him in? I KNOW this is a long shot, but it's the only shot he has right now.
