URGENT CHICK HATCH ISSUE

Make sure you let it rest in incubator till its fully dry. By that time the ruptured yolks sac would have shrunk and the navel have closed.
It seems to not be drying well and is sticky… should I put in warm water to try to get the stickiness off or no since it has the navel issue?

It sounds like too high humidity and maybe some shrink-wrapping if you were opening the incubator. I'd put it in a damp paper towel in a little Tupperware dish and let it finish closing up. You can wet it tomorrow and gently rinse the hardened gunk off.

I have it in the incubator still so you are suggesting taking it out of there putting it in something with the paper towel for about how long? And then putting it in the brooder? Then in the morning try to get the gunk off? I’m just concerned about getting to some resolve before I need to go to bed tonight and want to feel confident the chick is in a safe place.. will the other chicks pick on it at this point? I’m thinking yes it hasn’t really been walking at all still just flopping about
It may have more issues ?

UPDATE: My poor little chick did not end up making it. She never was able to walk or even stand. She did open her eyes occasionally but mostly laid on her side.
I have since had another hatch which seems healthy and is in the brooder with its 3 siblings.

Did I mess up by “ helping” the chick?
