My chick is at day 24. I opened the air cell, and wet the inner membrane. I see a foot! Help what do I need to do? I can see a heartbeat or breath happening in the part of the body I can see next to the foot, so I’m not sure if it’s feet over head or upside down in the egg. I don’t want to, lose it. I’ve already lost two, one suffocated, and the other I’m still unsure on. I can try to take a picture if it would help.

Here is what I see

This one doesn't look ready. I am basing this on the major blood vessel that has not dried out yet. I was not able to determine the position of the chick. Did you candle the other side of the egg to determine if there's an air cell on that side? If so, you might consider a 'safety' breathing hole on that end... MUCH smaller than the one pictured.

this is not the safety hole. I had a very small safety hole in it for a full 24 hrs. Then expanded the hole to be able to see a beak, but instead saw a foot so I opened the whole air cell thinking it was a foot over head chick. but not I believe it’s an upside down chick. There is no air cell I can see on the small end.

It seems as if the eggs of your clutch are at different stages of development. Do you have a broody hen sitting on them or do you use an incubator?

Sorry, I'm no help as I've only helped a chick with it's head over the wing that wasn't hatching.
Any updates on this little guy?

im sorry for not responding sooner. I’ve been in a down mood all day. This little one did not make it.
it was fine and alive in the egg at 4am. When I checked on it this morning before work at 7am. It was dead.
the major vessel you can see in the image was white when at 7. Now that in chick has passed and there is no blood in the vessels I can see that the chicks foot is well over the head. Poor thing was trapped under its foot. I thought the whole chick was upside down but nope. :( I am very sad to have lost it. I wanted so much to save it, but I’m still just so new at hatching.
