It is day 30 of my broody bantam sitting on a Khaki Campbell egg. (Three others had to be disposed of over time; the third one today at first light)
Tapping sounds since day 28 and definate, loud (!) peep-peeps today in the remaining egg.
Problem: Henny has had enough and is no longer sitting on the egg
I'm very concerned! Don't know if it is because I removed the dud egg first thing and its simply upset her somehow, but, she hasn't returned to the nest (now 4hrs ago!)
Options available:
1) Just leave things alone and hope for the best.
2) Remove the egg and put it in the brooder pen to hatch on its own (at least it will have heat and humidity in there); except, the brooder pen has a 2 1/2 wk old KC duckling already in there
Any and all advice gratefully received.
TIA
