So this morning we awoke to a (very loud) little chick. This is our first hatch and we hadn't taken the egg turner out (we have a little giant 9300 incubator). Now I am in a pickle, I am worried what the egg turner will do to the chick. Should I turn the egg turner off even though there are other eggs in there have haven't hatch, including a few duck eggs that still need turning. Or should I risk opening the incubator to take the egg turner out completely? Or should we take the chick out? I am very nervous this is the first chick I've ever hatched.

Do you have a place to put it and a heat lamp or similar device? If so I would put them one by one into a warm bin, they need more warmth to dry out. Once they do then you can adjust the temperature.

You're welcome. Hatching is always so exiting! I've hatched 3 and the only reason I haven't hatched more is for the lack of a broody and good roosters.

haha xD Ya, my grandfather had a bunch of roosters (we are working on bringing that number way down, they are all young roosters from a recent clutch) so all his hens have fertile eggs, so, we took a few from a nest to see if they would hatch. It's been a fun (and tiring) experience! Who knew being a mother hen was so hard! I had to constantly mess with the humidity and to make it worse there were times when my temperature would fall to the mid 90s or my highest was 106, I was so scared I had lost them! We looked in the shells a few days ago, and if everyone who was alive then manages to hatch we would have only lost one embryo (it was from a pullet's egg, we wanted to see if it was possible for it to hatch) and had 2 duds! Fingers crossed for the rest of them~!

Tell my boys to start getting 'busy', if you will! I have a disappointing lack of egg fertility here, lol.
