URGENT~Help! I️ have a baby quail!

Good food choice.

You could try crushing the food finer--maybe put some in a plastic bag and using a hammer.

And you could try getting some wet (just a tiny bit, for that size chick--maybe serve the wet food in a bottle cap or something.)

Do quail babies eat bugs? Could you catch a few for it? Moving things might be more interesting than food that holds still.

I'm glad you checked the crop, but I just don't know how to get a quail to eat :(
Ok I️ will try all that. Right now he seems to be sleeping a ton.

I dont know much about quails but my guess is that it is from a wild bird if no one around you keeps them. Keep it if you want but my suggestion would be to contact a local wildlife center regarding the bird. It seems like you've gotten some sound advice. Keep him warm and try to get him to eat.

He just pooped a tiny, good consistency poop. He’s moving around more and starting to peep a bit louder. I️ crushed up some more food so we will see.

I wouldn't be so concerned about how much he's sleeping! Baby quail (especially quail that young, I'd reckon he's less than a week old) sleep a LOT. If you can find him a buddy (another quail, or even a chicken chick) it'll help him figure out food and water-- I will put my newly hatched quail with babies that are a few days old and know how to drink and eat, since the babies will see the older ones and mimic them. I also agree with grinding the food finer. I use a mortar and pestle to grind it down to very small crumbs. Good luck, I hope it works out!

Ok so I️ found a buddy for the quail. He is with my CLB chick, Kevin, who has dwarfism and loves babies. A few weeks ago, Kevin raised a premature turkey poult that hatched way earlier than the rest. Before that, she raised 2 Silkie chicks and a red Cochin chick. She does gently poke at the quail but not enough to hurt him. Hopefully Kevin will teach him to eat.
