Hello!
This morning I noticed one of my female pekin ducks who is usually SUPER noisy and active, was huddled next to my barn, not quacking at all. (she usually runs when you approach her) her eyes were open, although just halfway, and she seemed a bit wobbly. I picked her up and set her next to my other ducks to see if she would perk up but she just sat there and walked a few steps, wobbly as before. I watched her and she just nibbled at some corn that was on the ground but barley ate any. she didn't quack this whole time, which is unusual because she loves to chat. She was COMPLETELY normal yesterday, and the problem must have occurred overnight. I have one disabled duck who only has one working leg, and even he was more chatty and hobbling around more than she was.

She has had bumblefoot in the past but it healed completely, and she was still active even during her treatment. Maybe she was spooked by something? I need help fast as I don't know what the problem is or if she's hanging in there. She's only 2 years old, what could be the problem??

Have you felt her over? Any injuries? How is her weight? What does her poop look like? What do you feed?

yes, she seems fine in terms of injuries and there's no blood. her weight is normal. I haven't had a chance to check her poop yet. she's still trying to clean her feathers which is normal behavior, but everything is done very slowly and with little energy. I feed my ducks All flock duck food from Fleet Farm.

Is she eating and drinking ok? Could she be getting bullied?

she isnt eating or drinking much and she has never been bullied in all my 2 years of having her.

Hmmm. Is she molting? Some birds have hard molts and will go off feed and just generally feel crummy. You can try offering her some high protein snacks like scrambled eggs or fish canned in water. Some poultry vitamins also. See if it perks her up.

how can I tell if she's molting? this hasn't happened before so that's why it worries me. Thanks for the help!

This is molting season for sure but I don't know your location. Have you noticed feathers all around the area they live? Is she growing in pin feathers? Is she missing wing feathers? Molting can affect birds differently every year. Has she been laying eggs? They often stop laying when they are molting

Well that makes sense. I'm located in Minnesota and it is getting into the colder months. she hasn't been laying hardly at all and I have noticed some feathers in their pen. I will definitely give her some vitamins. Thanks!
