In December last year we found a baby peacock just lying in a forest near our holiday house.

We tried to reintroduce him back to his party, but the mother was not interested and started to peck at him.

We took him home and fed him. Now he is fairly big. He is a stunning bird and he has the most amazing personality. He listens to commands and comes when you calls him.

He has been staying with us inside during the day until about 4 weeks ago when I decided enough pooh in enough.

The problem I am having is that all he does all day is call for me at the glass door. He does not stop calling all day long. If I do not go outside and spend time with him he will not eat or drink. If i leave the house he comes looking for me. He wants to be with me all the time.

I bought two chickens thinking that he was lonely and that he needed some company, Boy was I wrong, he is actually scared of these chickens.

I was hoping that someone could give me some advice, the calling is unbearable and I am afraid the neighbors are not going to be friendly for much longer with this noise.

I have tried everything I can think of to make him stop calling. I have search the Internet but I have not found anyone that only has one peacock like me.

Thanks
Shaun

Where are you located if you don't mind me asking, mabe someone here may be close by and be able to help you find another pea to keep yours company.

Zaz is right, your pea needs a friend.
Peachicks do make this endless (extremely sad!) cry when they lose their mother, or when their mother gives them the brush-off to start on some new egg hatching (in this case, you = mother!).
They are really sociable and need company.

Yep. Buddy.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies

I am in South Africa. I was hoping I could find another solution. That is why I got him the chickens to keep him company.
I am not able to get another peacock. We do not live on a farm.

I will try and get some pictures uploaded. This photo is fairly old, he is much bigger now.
I thought that he might think of me as him mom. He follows me around everywhere.

He is so cute and I feel so bad when he calls for me.
Had anyone ever trained one not to pooh in the house?

Regards
Shaun
