Good morning all
Thank you in advance for taking a look at this, I do not have a rooster in my bunch. I have four lovely ladies that are laying hands 25 month old pullets, and two guinea to protect the flock that are the same age as the four ladies.

I do not know how this happened when they her big was there the next day it was totally gone

She has some part of her upper beak near her nostrils still there

There was no blood she seems to be drinking. OK she’ll scoop water up. I have a very large pail that is auto filled daily. Actually there’s several pails and I have a 4Y adapter and they’re filled automatically daily.

Every day I feed her 2 to 3 eggs by hand, I will scoop her up and put her in a towel, put her in my lap by herself, and I’ll crack an egg open and let her eat the yolk and then I let her out to free range with the other three, and she could eat grass and what not but I live in Montana, so having that ability come fall in winter will not be possible

I have fashioned a prosthetic beak, woodworking, restoration, etc. is kind of a hobby and has been all my life

The prosthetic has a wood base to it. It’s completely surrounded by a fiberglass resin, which I have sanded down, made shape of measured it while holding her to make sure that it’s still length that she needs.

The attachment is my question
And also any other suggestions that you may have are more than welcome and appreciated

Foremost, no I do not have the money to go to an avian veterinarian and spent $200 on this chicken. That’s not my budget and not a possibility. I’m gonna remote part of Montanaand live off grid.

Onto the prosthetic, I made this very carefully with the angle very closely matching the bird and I used a very, very fine cutting blade because this was made out of a whittled hardwood and then encased in fiberglass resin

When I finished the prosthetic beak at an angle and then I left a very small tank of it underneath for extra support so it wouldn’t just be a butt ended, but to butt fusion I wanted something else there to support that beak

She’s like family and I don’t wanna lose her

So in order not to have any of this glue get on her lower mandible or on her tongue I have fashioned several pieces of specific paper where epoxy, resin superglue, etc. does not adhere. It just comes right off of that type of paper specialized for that particular job.

The idea is to have the prosthetic with a small piece of poly tape, which is extremely tacky. It doesn’t harden or anything, but it’s very very tacky and I will put the prosthetic on that and then placed the prosthetic up underneath it for beak while she’s held wrapped in a burrito, she’s pretty tame.

I have spoken to a friend, a few thousand miles away who is a veterinarian, and they have suggested into muscle Benadryl and give me the proportion to wait that would put her into a late sedation while I do this process, I don’t know if that is necessary as the glue that I have is a 10 second bond

The next thing is that it is a jagged edge, and my concern is the ability for this glue to bond fully now what I can do and have thought of this the following

Mix a fiberglass, resin filling, add powdered fiberglass to that to make a paste with a slightly higher concentration of the harder, which will create a very fast bonding paste to fill any of the gaps.

Any suggestions, any input, any past history that you have personally experience to know if is greatly appreciated

Thank you very much and have a blessed day

Please forgive some of the typographical errors in my initial post, I use speech to text as I can’t stand these micro keyboards.

Of glaring issue is my pellets are three to 4 months old, and some of the other others are just type of graphical, if you need assistance sorting through the context, kindly PM me
Thank you in advance

I can't help you much on this one, but I read a few articles on prostetic beaks and it was a dentist who attached the thing. So I would lookup on dental glues and dental fillings just to have a wider idea of the available options.

Make some mushy chicken feed with water. That may make it easier to eat and drink. Scrambled egg can be fed to her in pieces. Beach injuries can be common with injuries on chicken wire and metal fencing, or from fighting. They are very painful for a few days. Tube feeding is something that can be done to keep her alive until she can learn to eat and drink. Here are some links to help you:
