Hi everybody, so my Toulouse goose has been sitting on 7 of her eggs for approx 28-29 days. I noticed a couple of eggs are already hatching but the goose is acting strange, she sometimes gets up and stays in the standing position for 5-10 mins and then sits back down. One of the goslings is peeping loudly and he’s just making a large hole in the egg instead of unzipping. I don’t know what to do... is this normal? Should I endure getting pecked on by 3 ganders and a goose to save that egg? Should I let the mother just do what she’s been doing?

Leave it alone. Not normal for her to just get off for 10 minutes for no reason but let her do her job. Goose shells are so strong because they must withstand the weight of the goosr. That little dude is working his hardest to get out and needs a breathing hole while he rests. 24 hours or more is not uncommon.

Aight

aight, I left the house so I don’t get tempted to help lmao, she doesn’t really get off the nest, she just stands and looks at the eggs, then sits back down

came back home 3 hours after, she looks like she settled down. i saw 3 pipped eggs and one which might have potentially been trampled over but the chick is still peeping and trying to zip

I’m not the only one who’s concerned, her three husbands (one out of view) have been roaming around the coop nervously today

so i closed the males in the coop for the night together with the female, and one gosling is out! the three males are all gathered around and cheering and the female got up for a second do tuck the gosling under her just as she wanted him

Hey everybody, so this morning I woke up to four goslings! She’s sitting on the nest weirdly for some reason, she left one egg out because she wants to keep the goslings under her wing but they keep getting out lol, I don’t think I’m gonna let her raise them, don’t really trust leaving them all outdoors... it’s gonna he a challenge once she gets up tho because the three males are literally all inside the coop and show no intention of coming out even to graze lol
