One of my hens seems to be missing her tongue, and when she eats something sticks out from right under her beak.
What happened to her tongue? could it be what's poking out from her throat? I'm thinking it could be folded over or something. When I look inside her mouth there is nothing. There are two holes which I assume are normal, but no tongue. She acts normal, talks, eats, runs around.
When she eats something jutts out from under her beak. I will include a picture of it sticking out.
It also sticks out when she talks or swallows.
When I open her mouth and touch the bump from the outside I can see it raising from inside her open mouth.
How can I treat this at home??
She is a mix hetween a barred rock hen and a blue silkie rooster. She hatched prematurely due to the hot weather and shes always had just a little trouble eating.
3 other chicks hatched/almost hatched and died, she is the only survivor.
Where is her tongue and what is sticking out??
Thanks!!
