URGENT - Incubator help!

Yes, the air cell side should be u, pointy side down...

If you put them in the turner the other way they can drown themselves when they internally pip...

I'm talking about the first 18 days of incubation, they shouldn't be internally pipping then??

No they should not be internally pipping then but, regardless of that fact ou remove them from the turner (not everyone removes them thus my comment about internally pipped) near the end you will still have lower hatch rates if they were in the turner upside down for the first 18 days, air cell should be top, pointy side down...

Yeah I realized what you meant right after I replied. Well, I believe this is probably the reason why my hatch rate has been so terrible! I'm not sure why I was putting them in that way, I could've sworn the incubator manual said to put them in the way I was putting them. But while I was marking my air cells right before putting them in the incubator, I realized I was putting the air cell side downwards.

Also, I noticed that one of my eggs has a slight crack. You can't see it on the outside, but when you candle it, you can see some small cracks. Can it still hatch, or is it ruined?

I'm sure if you review the turner instructions it will specify small side down...

I have not had much luck with cracked eggs, but I have had some, what I do is candle it and mark the crack with a pencil, then take some plain old white school glue and run a thin bead over the crack and let dry crack side up in the incubator a bit so the glue doesn't drip everywhere, only takes a little bit, then put back in the turner... For a lager dent type crack I take some white glue, dilute it 50% with water, then soak a small patch of tissue paper in that mix and use it like a casting bandage over the dent...

Yeah I sure if I do I'll find it says that, I just don't remember it saying that. How can I glue the crack when there's no external crack to glue??

That is why I candle and pencil the crack line and then lay down a bead of glue over the pencil line, it stops the crack from cracking externally...
Oh I see! Thank you for your help. Now that I realized my crucial mistake, I really believe this hatch will be much better!

Hi! Subscribing so I can find out how this ends. Good luck!
Thank you! I suppose I'll be posting updates or updating my OP then, I didn't know anybody was interested in seeing the results of my next hatch :)

The fellow who I bought my incubator from is a veteran hatcher, and he said to put the pointy end down for the first 18 days. That is how I do it.
Yes, that will definitely improve hatch rate.
