URGENT!

Is this a lash egg from my polish? If so, what is your recommendation for someone whp doesn't have a vet available?

The polish have only been laying for around a month. This was not in their egg laying area, it was where they sleep.

Anything that touched this has since been disinfected or thrown away.

It was very liquidy inside and had no real odor, just smelled like a fresh egg and poo (since they deposited it on the sleeping area)

I don't think so.
@Eggcessive?
I really hope not.

And from what I've read, lash eggs are mostly always solid masses, this one was basically just liquid.

And they are supposed to smell, this one didn't.

And it is apparently uncommon for new layers to produce a lash egg. The Polish gave me their first eggs 12 days ago. It felt like longer, so I said a month, but I was wrong

Right. If this were my chicken I would give her Calcium Citrate +D3 daily for about a week and see how she does. Some just need an extra boost of calcium even if you provide oyster shell in a vessel in the coop, especially new layers. Like maybe they don't realize they need it.

So is it likely this is just a toot egg?

Where can I get the Calcium Citrate +D3?

I'm wondering if she is rejecting the change from chick crumbles to layer pellets? My suspect for laying this has an empty crop.

Any place that sells vitamins and supplements for people. Citracal is a brand name but you can save $$$ by going generic.

Did you change the food gradually? Recommended as it might taste different, but when she's hungry she will eat. Also check the feed's expiration date and give it the smell test for mold. Are the others eating it?

Sorry, by toot egg I mean just a fluke, a funny little egg that is produced by new layers.

I changed it gradually. Maybe not gradually enough?

They always have feed, so when I top their feed off they don't go crazy for it, so I don't know. I'll test mixing chick feed in their feed again and see if they chow down more.

I would watch for more odd eggs or lash material. When they are having problems with the oviduct or shell gland there can be parts of eggs, membranes, yolk, and even blood filled blobs. People post all kind of strange things that come from the oviduct. She might be developing salpingitis or a shell gland issue in the oviduct. Time may tell if you see any other similar things. It is always good to cut the object open to see what is inside. I would probably give her the calcium with vitamin d for a few days orally, just pop it into her beak to swallow. Here is a good price on a calcium citrate with d tablet:
