I have a 7 day old Broiler Chick that was bitten by a cat 2 days ago. The crop has a small tear of about half a centimeter in at the top section between the neck and the wing. Chick is fully mobile, poop normal and have not lost weight yet BUT now when the chick feeds and drinks the fluid is starting to slowly ooze from the crop opening. On seeing the wound for the first time we put an ointment on that has antibiotics in, at that point no tear was visible, only the skin was torn.
Feeding is now limited to about 4 sips of water every often and a few bites of food to try and lessen the crop to stretch and food to ooze out.
Going to the Vet is out of the order. We are situated far out of town.
The crop needs to close now and we have opted to look at using a small patch of super glue to make some sort of seal as we have no idea of what to do.

Please if anyone have any advice on what i could do it will be highly appreciated.

Kind regards
Laurika

Could you wrap it under her crop and over the spot with vet wrap?
That would keep pressure on it to maybe heal and not ooze out.
Or try the super glue. It’s toxic I think so maybe a tiny bit of it should do. Hope this helps. I’ll keep y’all in my prayers. :hugs

Go to store and buy Curad 1% silver solution in 1 oz tube. Buy some 1-2 inch gauze as well.

When you get home, take a 4-6 inch piece of gauze and “wet” with silver ointment. Place this into hole and leave for 3 days. Go online and buy some steristrips.. see pic above. This is what is used on wounds that don’t need a stitch. Fuzz may make it harder but cut shorter pieces and place about every 1/2 inch. Cover outer with more gauze or bandaid. After 3 days, hole should be shrinking. Its hard to tell without pics so you will have to determine length of gauze but it should pack into hole comfortably not too tight. You can also buy silver impregnated cloth strips instead of using gauze but more expensive. You want hole full but too much because it will make hole bigger. After first packing, see if hole can be filled with silver without gauze. Not completely so crop can try to work. I would wet her crumbles and provide a lot of egg. Some say for a chick this is extreme but the only other option really is to cull it. There is a strong chance it wont make it but if your dedicated, just maybe, just maybe.

I use this method for hamsters. I have had several and they have a tendency to blow their “crop”. It worked on two but the others hole was just too large and he died. I will also say, cats have nasty bites so this needs to be done soon. Even if the only thing you can do is fill hole with some silver.

Good luck, sending prayers and I surely hope your baby makes it. It is amazing how something so little tugs at your heart so big ❤️
