If anyone has any help we need it! We have had 12 chickens die in 2 days. 8 of which happened over last night. We have 2 ducks with them. We have 2 swimming ponds for the ducks. We just don't know why our chickens are dyeing. We figure its not an animal because there are no puncture wounds or blood. They just lay there over twitch a little and then die completely. We need help with them and why they are just dyeing. Please3 if you have any information please help us. Thanks in advance.

We need more information. What age are they? Do they get out of the coop and run? Could they have gotten in to rat poison on your property or a neighbor's? Is there wet or moldy litter in your coop? Sorry that you are losing chickens.

Can you give us any clues at all to help determine the reason they have died? Were they laying still? If not when was last they laid? Was there any discharge from the vent? Was there any sounds when they breathed? Any coughing or mucus present? Were they drooling? Did they have any unusual signs or symptoms no matter how small before their death? If not they only way to really know for sure is to send one of the bodies to a state lab for a after death exam. I think this might be very important to do because your loss was so great that if it is a disease you can know for certain and be able to help the others left. Then you will know EXACTLY what your dealing with and if it is contagious and how exactly to handle the rest of the flock. If possible I'd send one in for a report. If Its not possible with the ones you already lost if you have another death its very important to send her body in for study. This is really the ONLY way to know for certain.we all can guess a thousand guesses but that's all they would be is GUESSES. But if you send one for study then you will know for sure exactly what your dealing with. Hope this was helpful and I wish you the very best for you and your flock! I wish I could be of more help but without any clues I couldn't begin to guess what the issue is. best wishes

Some were laying but some were pullets. When I picked one up that was alive it like threw up., and my sister said when one we were trying to save died she threw a little bit of feed up. They couldn't stand at all they just played and twitched it shivered a bit and then died.

Ey were found on our chicken coop floor and some outside coup b inside the fence. We have an enclosed coup we put them inside at night and inside the fence during day.

We have kept them enclosed but have decided to let them out and see if that helps and put them up at night still. We are going to disinfect the coup today and clean every corner. In our coup there isnt poison they could get in.

Look up info for Coccidiosis. Some symptoms are runny/watery poop(may or may not contain blood)fluffed feathers, lethargic, weight loss, not eating drinking properly.Cocci is a parasitic infection of the intestinal tract, spread by droppings which get into feed/water via droppings. Most birds have some cocci in their intestines, only a problem when they have an overload, then we medicate to bring it back under control. If symptoms match purchase Corid(amprolium)dose for Corid 20%powder is 1/2 tsp per gallon of water, dose for Corid 9.6% liquid is 2 tsp per gallon of water. Treat ALL chickens for 5 days,do not give vitamins during treatment(interferes with medication)give vitamins after treatment. Cocci can kill very fast. My first guess is always cocci when multiple deaths happen and not many symptoms.

You should also look for moldy feed, algae in water, dead mice, any chemicals around, any new feed introduced?

Thanks. My mom and I are both looking and she was thinking it could be worms or parasites. We have a 4-h show tomorrow for chickens so it kinda sucks.
