I need to learn about tube to crop feeding. I have a very lame but very alive duckling who I would like to save if I can. It's weak and mostly I think it might have a chance IF I can feed it. Problem is, although it nibbles and nibbles (and likes to bite my lip if i let it) i don't think it's eating. It's probably still fueled by yolk from hatching, it hatched yesterday early.
The duckling is very weak and can't fully stand but hobbles about. It goes to fetal position when it's eyes are closed which is most of the time but it has very clear and vivid eyes when it opens them. And when it does it holds its neck up and can hobble after my voice. It peeps and preens, stretches and yawns. I also believe it has wry neck, but not where its all bent up, rather held low and the head is tilted a little. I read around and it seems vitamins can help correct that. I have both poultry Vitamins and electrolytes
and Vita-Sol. Please if anyone has any ideas please help. I WOULD go to a vet but I would like to avoid paying hundreds of dollars and not getting any good results. (Trust me, I love my birds. I took my beloved chicken in to be euthanized when she became disabled to the point i could do nothing. These are my pets)
If i absolutely have to cull and there is absolutely NO other way i will do it as opposed to letting it starve or dehydrate to death, I will. But this is something i am trying to avoid so please don't just comment that. Thanks
