Hi,
My chick has hatched and I’m not sure if it’s okay. Please see attached pictures. Has it hatched too early? Is there anything I can do? What’s the stuff attached to it?
Thanks,
Beth

The looks like just the umbilical + waste. It sometimes doesn't detach right away when a chick hatches but usually will dry up and fall off within a few hours, although it's distressing to watch the chick try and drag it around until it does. If it's still attached when you go to put it in the brooder, you can carefully snip it with clean scissors, short enough that the other hatchlings won't be able to peck and pull on it.

Hi,
I’ve noticed it looks like it’s slightly bleeding where it connects to the chick - is that normal with an umbilical chord and will it still sort itself out?
