hello i have got a broody hen who is 6months old just hatched 6 keets she adores them they hatched 2 days ago but she was still sitting on more eggs that have only pipped today i know hens her age shouldn't've been hatching eggs she sat for 30 days non stop until this point so im not sure what to do my incubator is full of eggs that are only on day three if i raised the humidity it would drown them any suggestions i have tried to contain her around the eggs for now but she just wants to walk around with her babies any suggestions would help alot im really desperate to save these babies

Staggered hatches are impossible. After 1.5- 2 days of the firdt one hatching shes ready to start showing them around. u have about a week to smeak a few under her at nite.. (already hatched) but even that isnt promisimg to some broodys.

sounds like u need to go buy another incubator if you are tryng to do multiple hatches nowhere near same date

Or do u mean she has some 3 day old & 1 day olds? If that’s the case it should work itself out by tomorow. They will all bundle up together tonite and will follow mom tomorrow

sorry for the confusion i mean she is sitting on them and one is a late hatcher and i cant get her to stay on the nest to avoid shrink wrapping

If you have a brooder plate, get a large enough plastic bin or box and stick it in with a dish of water under a small bench oven rack. Have the brooder up high, and turn temp up gradually.

That's what I do...
I'm using a covered cat litter box with towels over it. Keep the draught out, they'll grow fine

my original post still stands tehn. Put the late hatcher in a homemade incubator if your other one is full. The 3 day olds are ready to explore and mom will manage them. Its mother nature at work. You cant make her stay on a nest. She will kill the baby trying to escape by u freaking her out locking her in there. Its best to let her do what she wans to do . Just cold hard facts of hatching eggs. You can always count on a mom eating at least one, losing at least one during the first week.

Again only way to save it next time if mom is leaving the nest is another incubator then stick it under mom at nite once it hatches. I doubt if that egg is still alive if it was pipping then mom left / you keep trying to get her back on it. She can crush the egg easily at that stage

Putting those pipped eggs into the bator and raising the humidity for A DAY OR TWO won't kill the other eggs already in it.

Correct. But if i read her post correctly; its already full. And the age of those is not listed. So they will need to be hand turned until the ones that pipped are hatched.

The original post is one big long run on sentence so im trying to make do with what’s available.

She really needs to candle the remaining pipping eggs to see if there still viable. From the sounds of it they havent had heat in couple days now. Broody is off doin mom things and they havent been in incubator

so guys it hatched its fine for now he was mildly shrink wrapped and my hen sat down for night and he was hatched within 2 hours still struggling to keep up but he will figure it out in no time mama is very gentle and she is very protective towards other hens
