About 2 weeks ago one of our young hens was severely pecked at by our other chickens. Her whole vent area and tail was a complete bloody mess. It all scabbed over and seemed as if she couldn’t poop because of the tightness of the scabs. I soaked her every day in a bucket of warm water to help her poop. Each time she would poop a little. Over time I managed to pull off parts of the scab hoping that would fix the issue. She is mostly healed now, but it appears that her vent is not the same and seems to be a much smaller hole and not the normal horizontal line that you would see. Is it possible that as her body healed, it has closed her vent tighter? She is still eating and drinking and pooping with help. Her poop comes out in pinky sized strings instead of a big clump. She hasn’t started laying yet, but I’m certain when she does that it will kill her. If anyone has ever had this happen before or if you have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thank you all so much in advance.
