one of our hens died about 1 month ago and we think it was a combination of sour crop and cocci, another one of out hens (claw) has now got what we think is sour crop (this afternoon her crop is empty and the little that is in it is squishy and pressurized felling). her vent is also messy, would this be sour crop? this time we got her early.

Any thought to what it might be?
Answer's appreciated.

Sour crop can go along with other illnesses such as coccidiosis, vent gleet, and others. Vent gleet and sour crop are thought to be fungal infections, and can be treated with probiotics or plain yogurt, antifungal drugs such as Nystatin, ACV in the water, and antifungal creams (mycostatin and others) applied to the vent area if it is read and irritated (after the vent has been cleaned.) Nystatin available by prescription from a vet is also available online as Medistatin. Here is a link: http://www.foyspigeonsupplies.com/medications/candida/664-medistatin-powder
