I have been testing ways to get better hatching rates, and my recent brood has been the best. Out of 3 eggs ive only lost one and the remainjng 2 have very strong and responsive chicks. The temp has been reletively low so they're taking a bit longer than I'd hoped. They need at least a day or two to hatch and I'm supposed to be leaving for vacation tomorrow afternoon. I thought that they would be ready to transfer with a day to gain strength for the road, but it just didn't happen. I am very concerned about them, I have no idea what to do. Is there any way to safely encourage an early hatch? Or to safely transport them while they hatch?

There are DC to AC inverters that plug into cig lighters. If you can bring the incubator with you, that might be a possibility. Aside from that, maybe bring the bator to a friend's house who can follow through while you're away?
Bringing the incubator is a possiblity but I am worried that the shaking will stress the chicks too much. The chicks from their mother in particular don't do well with stressors the first day after hatch. I have friends that are semi-knowledgeable on hatching ducklings, but they killed half of my last brood that I gave to them. They can hatch them, but are very bad at caring for chicks.

I have been reading up and I am fairly confident that I can transport them as soon as they hatch. I can leave later in the day tomorrow, but I have to be at the vacation house (it's a one-week rental) to check in on Saturday and it's a 12 hour drive without traffic. I am stopping halfway through and sleep at my cousin's house so chicks can rest there. I just need to encourage an earlier hatch if possible. One chick is moving up and I believe he'll pip tonight but the other one seems to be comfy where it is. Should I raise the temp? I've never had to rush a hatch before.

Where are you? .maybe someone is nearby and can help.
People do strange things in their cars, but hatching ducks, never seen that in all my years of trucking!

Hope you enjoy your vacation trip. Hope the chicks hatch and survive till your return with no issues. Hope you'll provide a status update when you get back and let us know what went down! :fl
My friend who originally couldn't do it ended up having canclecan plans, so they're safe with her! Ducklings will hatch any day now, but I believe one egg has the air bubble on the wrong side...

I'm not sure there is anything you can do to rush the hatch. :hmm
They will come out whenever they are good and ready:cool:
I think you would take a chance of harming them if you jacked up the temperature. . :idunno
