a strange thing has been happening to our ducks 3 ducks have been infected in the past 2 months. They will gape like aspergillus and non of the past 2 ducks recoved and alarm one of my pets now has it!! If you know what this is or a cure PLEASE let me know! The last one we had didn't respond to antibiotic as far as I know.we thoght he was better no gapes in a week but then I got him in and he was gaping worse and didn't make it.. I have her one a vaporizer right now.

Sorry you are having trouble.

I suggest getting a necropsy and confirming your actual problem. If they are getting aspergillosis.. the source needs to be identified and eradicated. I don't know of fungal infections responding to antibiotics which are for bacterial infections.

Sorry I can't be more help. :fl

Our vet has recommended Oxine. While we are waiting, we are using a vaporizer with vetericyn. It seems to be helping. I just panic when I see anything wrong with my ducks. Those that died were rescues and young and probably not the healthiest birds to start with. We are going to treat all of them with the Oxine and their coops. The vet said they weren't in immediate danger and probably just had a cold because of stress.

They are all getting better after oxine treatment. The muscovies never where sick other then sunflower(which was a duckling). They seem to be more hardy.
