One of my chickens has a respitory illness, and her medicine will arrive tomorrow or Monday. Is there anything I can do while waiting for medication to keep her breathing properly? Or even something that will help her breathe a bit that I can make at home? Anything helps.

I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know what type of illness? What are her symptoms? What medicine did you order?
I have no idea what illness this is. All I know is that it is respitory related. Her symptoms are making these noises- almost like a squawk and gasp mixed together. I've seen lots of people who have chickens making this noise that order Vet rx, and that's what I decided to do.

Vet rx is not medicine, it's just Vicks vapor rub for chickens. it's a placebo, it won't cure or treat anything. [Imo, waste of money]
Can you get a video of the noise and post it to a video hosting site and link it here? how long has it been going on.

It just started today, when I went out of feed them. I am currently not home but as soon as I get home I will post a video.

It's sounds like it might just be stridor from getting food caught in the throat. It can sound really bad (sometimes compared to the sound of a kazoo) but it usually resolves itself within a day.

How is she doing?

A video of the sounds she's making would be helpful. Upload to Youtube and provide a link.

Do you notice any other symptoms like mucous from the nostrils, bubbles in the eyes, facial swelling or something inside her beak like lesions or canker?

She may have inhaled a piece of food or water which is causing some irritation, if this is the case, usually this will resolve on its own. If she still has symptoms, then you'll want to investigate further.

She is actually doing way better than yesterday. She is still wheezing a bit but she is not making a weird noise like she was yesterday. She has gone back to her normal self and I haven't noticed any other symptoms.

Glad she's doing better.
She's still wheezing?
I'd keep watch on her today and see if that clears up. Check her crop first thing in the morning before she's had anything to eat/drink to make sure part of the problem is not a crop issue.
