Urgh! Something gross just came out of my chick!

I have a newly hatched chick - about 4 hours ago. It took an age to hatch - 40 hours to be precise and it got stuck, but got out in the end. Anyway, it just did a big green watery poo.

This is our first ever hatch - is it meant to do that? I mean, I know they have to pass something but this was quite alot for a little chick.

The chick is a French Maran.

Anyone know?

Sounds like a new chicky poo to me! I had a duckling do the same thing down my leg on Saturday!

A green poo is normal for a newly hatched chick. Just make sure that it has access to fresh water and sprinkle some chick starter in the brooder box for them to learn how to eat. Good luck!
