First off, nice job with the publicity, Robb. And national coverage, too. Many congratulations. And, as always, your daughters are beautiful.

I think that (mostly) any press is good press, even if the copy is a bit negative. Unfortunately, it's often what the general public "thinks" about urban chickens until they get to know what's going on. Oh, the looks I get sometimes, particularly from people eavesdropping on my conversations. But curiously, everyone is interested. And I'm a dork and carry photos...

The best thing we can do is lead by example. Teach. Be the odd man out - I like to think of it as being "first." Invite people over to see the chickens and your coop. Change perceptions, even if it's only one person at a time. Remember that most city folks have never even seen a chicken close up. Everyone, particularly children, are interested in learning more.

Thanks again for providing us with an AMAZING platform for learning and sharing knowledge. I KNOW I would not have had the courage to try backyard chickens without this forum.

Good article. People will need to have resources as things get progressively worse in the economy over the next few months. BYC may be a lifeline for some, with info to help them survive this mess. Get the word out that everyone here is ready to help with good info.
