"Use by" expiration date on game feed

Hello, When purchasing game feed how much "shelf life" are you seeing on the game feed 40# bags?. What kind of shelf life should I expect to be somewhat normal?. At this time I don't have any birds but I am planing to purchase 10 pheasants and from what I have read about their feed consumption I expect to purchase a 40# bag every month or so. Your feedback is appreciated. thanks
