Used coop?

My Grandmother may be letting me have her older coop that she used last year but now has a bigger coop. It has been outside all winter and can hold 4 chickens, What would I need to do to it to get it ready for a brooding pen? It has a closed run as well.

I'm going to vote, take it, it's free. I have one non-movable coop that we built out of 90% recycled stuff. Pallets for walls, a used roofing structure that I cut down to fit on the roof and garage door insulation in the walls. Built the nesting box out of recycled wood. Our biggest expense we the chicken wire we used for the outdoor run.

I did get one used.... It is a triangle shaped moveable coop that we used when the chickens we young. I don't really see us using it again until we get young chicks again though. Also it was in pretty bad shape and I had to do a lot of work to it before it was really use able. So it looks to me like you have yourself a really good deal there.

It's a large coop-9x10x7 high & it's all insulated. My parents built it and only used it a year and a half. There haven't been any chickens in the coop since 2012. They never had any sick birds & cleaned it weekly. We are considering taking it since we would only have to pay to have the coop moved (around $200) so it would save us a lot of start up money & we would have room for more chickens in the future. Is this a good idea?

Heck yeah it's a good idea! That's like finding a mint-condition, low-mileage, single-owner, always-been-garaged car for cheap. I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. In fact, they don't happen to have another one they'd like to get rid of, do they? Because I'd be willing to take it off their hands for them.

Thank you! I am so excited to get it. It is big enough for 4 hens so I thought I could turn it into a brooding pen for any of my hens that go broody.
